2021 Product Review: How Campanyon Improved its Digital Platform

Since Campanyon launched in April – and thanks to your feedback – our team has focused on building a better product that is easy to use and, ultimately, more efficient in offering everything our users need. Here’s a short overview of what we’ve improved on in 2021 and what to expect in 2022.

Launching our platform

Looking at our website and scrolling through the +800 bookable listings, it’s crazy to think that we only launched our platform in late April, 2021.

The first version of our platform incorporated features for managing host profiles. This included creating a listing, an availability calendar, chat function, and payout integration. Through our booking engine, travelers could search for outdoor stays by location or scrolling a map with a listing overview, while filtering for both travel preferences and dates. It also allowed travelers to seamlessly complete the full booking process – from communication to payment – with our hosts.

That said, we’ve made quite a few upgrades since the first version.

Tweaking the platform

We’ve received a lot of feedback from our community since the launch – thank you! It’s allowed us to improve our platform to where we’re at now.
Improvements and new features for hosts:
    • Pricing add-ons for high season(s) and weekends
    • Customized prices per person, for children, and for pets
    • Services and products that can be added to your listing
    • New cancelation policy options
    • Calendar sync
    • Customized check-ins and check-outs
    • Possibility to create different booking rules for different camp spaces of your property
Improvements and new features for travelers:

    • Reviews for hosts and campers

The website is also now available in 10 languages, and we’ve launched the Bonfire blog for all sorts of travel inspo and stories!

What’s in store for the Campanyon platform in 2022

Next year, we will see the launch of the Campanyon app for iOS and Android. A smartphone should be all you need as a host to manage bookings and calendar availability and chat with campers. If you are a camper, you will be able to easily search for and plan your next trip under the stars.

And to make using Campanyon easier, especially for those just starting out, we’ll focus on improving our help center. Everyone in our community will have an easier time renting out their property after going through our upcoming ‘tips & tricks’ as tooltips for Hosts.

In line with making things easier, we’re currently in the process of polishing the final touches on implementing connections with several external Channel Manager Integration systems. This feature will provide the capacity for Hosts to seamlessly manage all of their activities across the board, by connecting all of their existing booking platforms together in one place.

But more than just create a seamless online experience, we want to focus on the adventure itself. 2022 will see activities, workshops, and experiences come to the Campanyon platform for immersive experiences in nature.

While we’d be happy to accomplish just the above, we’re secretly hoping to add even more new features in 2022 than we currently anticipate.

Luckily, exploring and adventuring more sustainably and nearer to nature has caught the interest of an ever-increasing number of travelers – a trend that, in itself, gets us excited for 2022. If there’s anything we want next year, it’s to offer people the best resources possible to enable and encourage them to explore the outdoors responsibly, and become fellow advocates for the planet.
