Lillero tent

At Lillero, the devil is in the details

Wondering where you can take your glamorous self this summer? Campanyon hosts Michelle and Lau, along with their two kids Valdemar and Ella, have built their dream life by the water in Denmark. Campers, get ready for a fabulously different camping experience.

To say Michelle and Lau are perfectionist is an understatement. After four years of touring Denmark, the happy couple and parents of two finally found their gem, nestled in Høve Strand in the bay area of Sejerøbugten, right in UNESCO Global Geopark Odsherred. They called it Lillero. A tiny camp spot by the sea, with high-end tents pitched just a hundred steps from the beach, a sauna with panoramic views on the bay, and local produce and fishes cooked by a Michelin-starred chef. In other words: paradise.
The philosophy here is: let’s do it 100%, or let’s not do it at all. “We love going into details, confesses Lau. We want to be good hosts. That’s our biggest focus” (we back you up here). And to get there, there have been epic fails. “When we advertised for a pizza night, we expected 20 people to show up. That turned into 200. Same with our musical evening. We couldn’t properly host so many people.”
Needless to say the location makes you feel a bit of FOMO. Juuuust a little bit “Explorers, painters and visitors have been coming here to see the light, admits Michelle. Sunset light is my favorite. It’s so red, it’s like the water is burning. We have views on the ocean from everywhere. And we have created an experience that no one has. It’s a huge factor.” Even their kids agree: “Others don’t have a sauna on the beach, right?”

Here is what you’re on for at Lillero:
Glamping
Have we mentioned the tents, specially ordered from America? These tough – and sustainable – guys have been sent to Alaska to be tested under all weather conditions. So fresh nights are not a problem. Michelle and Lau have given them a glamorous touch by providing towels, bathrobes, plush duvets and pillows as well as crispy high-end bedlinen. Bonus: the chairs on the deck to catch some rays and enjoy a bonfire on your own.
Food – you’ll be drooling in a minute
The Odsherred rich soil area is known for its farming, especially for its potatoes and carrots. Add that to the fresh fish seared over an open fire by chef Andrew Michaelides at Lillero’s restaurant, and you’re done. Like, there’s no coming back from that.
Chill
That’s all we got to say. Period.
