21 Dec May Nature be with You in 2022: A Message from Campanyon Co-Founder and CEO, Kristian Qwist
What a year this has been. When Alex and I first thought of Campanyon back in April 2020, a worldwide pandemic had just landed in all of our lives. While our focus was all about the outdoors, we were forced to turn our bedrooms into hastily set up home-offices. We faced the challenge of building a company based on the notion of companionship, from scratch, while working remotely and far from each other. Finally, after a lot of helpful feedback, product testing, and discussions, Campanyon was officially created in January 2021 by 5 co-founders – Sven, Aline, Werner, Alex and myself – all while still working full-time in our previous jobs.
A year later, we are proud to count +800 amazing places in nature to be discovered across 16 countries on our platform. We wouldn’t be here without all the Campanyon hosts and their commitment to help us make nature more accessible to everyone.
We also built a bad**s team of 23 nature lovers working relentlessly from 10 countries in product, sales, and marketing. We’ve made massive improvements for our community to have a better experience on our platform, supporting 10 different languages and offering localized support.
Finally, just in time for Christmas, we closed our second funding round with Schibsted Ventures and existing investors, securing our ambition to become the best marketplace for outdoor accommodations and camping spots. But our commitment to nature doesn’t stop there. This year, the UN published its latest climate report, the most extensive resource on climate change, the results of which pointed to our undeniable responsibility as humans in provoking and amplifying the current state of the world. More than ever, we are convinced we can – and should – help shape new ways of traveling to reduce our substantial impact. For healthier, more local, and more sustainable experiences in nature. That’s why we will work with our team to implement a selection of organizations to pick from to donate 1% of our revenue, as part of our commitment to the 1% for the Planet program.
In the years to come, we aim to build the world’s largest responsible community of travelers and hosts, and we are excited that you want to be a part of our journey. On behalf of the whole team, thank you for your support.
Cheers to a great 2022,
Kristian, Campanyon CEO
